Daily Drop Cap

Ilove a bit of nice type... so naturally I love everything that comes out of Jessica Hische's brain pipe. Her Daily Drop Cap project is for "your enjoyment and for the beautification of blog posts everywhere".
Jessica hand crafts a beautiful new initial cap every day (or working day) so that people like me can look that little bit more creative with their ramblings. What a nice lady. She's also created some ribbon type that I could only dream of recreating; I'm spending the rest of the day searching for an online tutorial so i can at least try.

...Feeling kinda inspired

October Spotify Playlist - Hip Hop

I'm publishing my October playlist by the skin of its teeth... better late than never ay?

This month is dedicated to hip hop. I moved to London in May 2006 and when i arrived fresh off the welsh boat i knew little-to-nothing about the genre (apart from what i'd heard on MTV or at my local cheesy club) being here has opened my ear pipes to so many wonderful artists, producers and DJs I wonder how I ever coped before.

i'm on a constant quest to find new (and old) material so get in touch if you hear anything that makes your head nod.

Here are just a few tracks i can listen to on repeat. I could have gone on forever with this list; it was so much fun to make i had to stop myself at 15 tracks. I'll definately be revisiting my top rated iTunes to create a few more hip hop favourites playlists from Spotify.

It's a damn shame that one of my all time favourite albums wasn't available on Spotify: Souls of Mischief - 93 til Infinity because this track definately would've got pride of place:

Anyway - back to the matter at hand... this month's track list.

The tree pee

I live by 2 rules in life:

1) Don't take your shoes off on a night out
2) Don't pee in the street

i reckon if you live by those 2 rules, you'll be taken home to mother. i recently embarked on a tirip to Spain with my bints when one hoonage fuelled night ended with me crossing my legs and running on the spot on the beach.

now in hindsight, i think doing my tinkle in the sea would've been acceptable here since it was 4am and no children were present, but instead i spotted a nice looking tree. it was on a hill and its branches splayed outwards, covering the trunk with the long foliage. like a big leafy umbrella.... perfect.

i'm no expert at this (as i mentioned - i don't usually partake in such unladylike behaviour) so i thought i'd hold onto the branch that was just above waist height to keep my balance while i drained the main.

as proceeding were drawing to a close i heard the girls scuttling up the hill with the camera to try and catch me in the act so i quickly pulled up my shorts and ran out into the open with a huge smug grin on my face having got away with my cardinal sin. the flash shone brightly and the photo turned out great - we got on with our night... skinny dipping and the like.

5 more days passed, we flew back to london and Brizzie decides to add the holiday snaps to facebook.... the flash on her camera revealed the horrifying truth of the fateful tree pee episode.

...in my rush to relieve myself, i neglected to notice the sleeping homeless man under my tree of choice. The jury's still out on whether i didnt wake him, or he just remained calm our of fear/pleasure. Either way, September 2009 i inadvertantly partook in my first water sports.

epic outdoor peeing FAIL. Another reason why i'm a massive idiot hole.

NEW - monthly spotify playlists

I couldn't live without music and can pretty much listen to any genre apart from techno and death metal. A blog by Turn off the Radio has inspired me to create a monthly Spotify playlist, inspired by different genres, moods, topics and artists... pretty much whatever is floating my boat at the time.

I'm hoping this'll be a good way of keeping tabs on my favourite songs and giving them some kind of categorisation so i dont get lost in an abyss of "top rated" tracks.

The first one on the books is my electro indie pop playlist.... aka - a bit of anything that isnt urban or rock.

ENJOY!

TRACKLIST:

1. Jump in the Pool - Friendly fires
2. Daft Punk Is Playng At My House - LCD Soundsystem
3. Homecoming - Teenagers
4. Computer Camp Love - Datarock
5. Ice Cream - New Young Pony Club
6. Helicopter - Bloc Party
7. Something Bells - Daedelus
8. Too Fake - Hockey
9. Electric Feel (Justice Remix) - MGMT
10. Over and Over - Hot Chip

...and if you dont have Spotify - shame on you!

cheesy r&b FAIL

so you're up for a bit of late night calling, whispering sweet nothings and perhaps some "kissing through the phone" with the fella in gawdy jeans and hideous jewellery that you met on saturday night outside bagel king.

you begin to dial... it starts ringing.... weeee!

...oh wait... this isn't soulja boy. this is a 54 year old married man from Oldham. "Sorry to have bothered you Mr. Mately, i wanted some illicit phone sex with an 18 yea
r old r&b character, tell your wife i meant no offense".
